There are many components to being a respected rapper. Flow is always important and having the right voice is key. Songwriting ability is something that not many MCs possess and being able to spit lyrics is a skill that escapes many. The problem is the best songwriters really don’t have the best one-liners (i.e. Scarface, Pac and Nas) while the game’s illest spitters (i.e. Canibus, Chino XL, Ras Kass) don’t necessarily make GREAT songs. SYNOPSIS: When I was a young lad, I had a strong love for SEGA. My favorite games were Sonic and Virua Fighter. Back then my creative juices were running wild and you couldn't tell me nothing. In 1997, at the age of 11, I began writing a screenplay for a live action screen adaption for Sonic The Hedgehog, except he wasn't going to be a hedgehod, but a human. The story was going to revolve around a young man by the name of Johnny (known in the streets as Sonic, for his racing skills) who's hobby was to drive motorcycles and soup up cars. He would meet his fate one day when a bankrobbery gone wrong would result in the left behind get away truck. As Johnny comes across the getaway truck, he finds that in side is a blue metal mask with a matching jacket, both with an R logo. What he finds out later is that both the mask and jacket possess super powers and belong to a mad scientist turned escaped convict, Dr. Robotnic, who's goal is to takeover the world. The thing is, the metal mask is the key. Robotnic tries to retrieve his suit, which would allow him to excute his mission. After finding out that Sonic has it, he searches the city in endless pursuit to take back what's supposedly his.

Alright people... Dont be alarmed. the Film Skool Rejekt's Midnight Movie album is still coming out. We just had to make a few changes within the past 10 hours. To refute the claim that I made earlier, Film Skool Rejekts does in fact still exist. However, the line-up is altered for the time being. To make things simple, let's just say I'm 50 Cent, and Future Joyner is Young Buck. And for the record, yes Future Joyner is ON THE ALBUM. He's all over the album, but as of now, he is ... Suspended indefinitely, until the King let's him back in the castle. Now, Coming straight off the Free Agent List is my MAN 100 GRAND, The fifth MC to Rock over a Cyrus Tha Great beat, Mr. Pretty Boy... A.K.A. The Preachers Son... A.K.A ... Aww Shit, I ran outta names... My homie from back in the days....

Nick Diamond (formerly known as ARSIN of Rosetta Stone, and before that, Dark Legacy)

Nick is finishing up Midnight Movie along side Me and Sheen Philips. Put it like this, for the time being, Nick is the Phil Collins to Future's Peter Gabriel (Do some research to decipher the analogy) So, with that being said, this is what it's gonna look like for the next few month. But let's be clear, Nick is not a permanent or an official member of the group. All he is doing is being a good friend in a time of need. In fact, he gave up the microphone. I basically forced him out of retirement for this album. He was originally only suppose to be on two records for Midnight Movie, but due to these abrupt cirumstances that I cannot speak of, He'll be on much more than that.

For those who don't know who Arsin is. I'll take you down Memory Lane. Me, Arsin, and my other homey Cyph used to be in a Rap Group called Rosetta Stone from 2000-2002. I was producing all the beats and they were the MC's (sorta like FSR) The first record we ever recorded was ........

The name of that joint was called "Cypher Kinetic", recorded in 2001, released in 2002 via my man Frank The Butcher's "7 Hill Xperience Compilation." We caught a small buzz, but like alot of groups do, we went our seperate way shortly after. I began working heavily on Personal F.O.U.L stuff, and they worked their own things. Fast foward to now, we all still have unconditional love for each other. Hence, my homie Nick, coming out of retirement to MJ the situation in a championship game we call... MIDNIGHT MOVIE.

I remember in 1997 when I was looking in the dictionary for a word in the M section (I don't remember what word it was) and I stumbled across the word MOOR, and the definition next to it read something like: A Muslim group of people from AFRICA with Arabic and Berber decent who conquered Spain from 711-1492. I was AMAZED. By this time I was heavy into studying Black History and things of that nature, so reading this was fueling the fire. Since then I have done extensive research on the MOORS and became astonished at how these strong MEN OF COLOR conquered a EUROPEAN country and civilized it. Just today I found this documentary about the MOORS. Haven't watched it all but it looks on point.

Sorry y'all (The people that do actually do give a damn about MY blog page) for being away for so long. School has started and I've been trying to get things together. Grad school application deadlines are approaching as well, so on top of the EIGHT CLASSES that I'm taking, I've got to get some portfolios and stuff together for my next step in higher education. Not to mention my BOXING regime (I'm trying to put LL COOL J out of business by JUNE). I promise I will not take as long to make another post again. With that being said let's get to the good stuff. Last time I posted, I informed everyone on the upcoming FSR album MIDNIGHT MOVIE.
This time, I got my man, my mellow, my ace, and my personal mix engineer, Adrian "187" Morales to write up some inside information on his mixing technique for the album. With no further ado, here is what he had to say:

Peace, y'all.

Upon sitting down with Cyrus and him discussing to me his latest project, its theme and how he wants to orchestrate it, the one thing that came to my mind when thinking how to go about the mixing process was the overall "ambience" of the record. I felt it not only had to be represented, but also had to be on the fine line between the "sound" of the theme at hand and contemporary musical standards... to an extent.

The sound to the music was practically identical to the theme that it's immitating: "gritty" quality that worked well(the theme of the movie filmed in the late 80's was based on low budget movies from the 50's and 60's, a lil FYI)... so how do I go about this being that Cyrus already had the "rugged, gritty" part down with his choice of instruments and already had the "feel" to the album down? "Add a little more to it", but make it "thumpable" (that word will be in the dictionary soon) so that it's listenable with good replay value wherever it's being played. The latter was the more important part for me, or any engineer in general.

I can write a whole blog by myself about specifics, so excuse the generalization, though I won't leave you short-handed and get to the point.

Usually engineers mix instrument sounds (primarily percussions) based on the frequency range, the pitch (sometimes) but mainly how they want the instruments to sound (depending on reverb and "roomy-ness", or whether they want certain things to sound digital or acoustic, OR whether they want it to hit light, thump, etc... you get the point) and try to acsenuate the specific frequency range by getting rid of the "muck" or "infamill" (Future, wtf) or parts of the sound that didnt make it "sound" like the instrument or would distract the "quality of the instrument" (depending, which I'll explain in a sec)... simply put: sound parts that "didnt need to be there". As gritty and rugged as the instruments and sounds that made up the music were, I simply took the advice of a great engineer and thought "the best EQ is no EQ", flipped it my own way and kept the "original ambience" of the sound untouched (since you DON'T want to take away from that with a specific album like this one), but I also wanted to make the specific instrument thump and get ITS point across, to give the songs a good feel. So, I didn't believe in "cleaning up" the sounds, I kept them the way they were, and added the quality it needed in order to give it the effect of the respected instrument by simply ascenuating the overall hertz of its frequency range, no more no less. This kept the "theme" or "ambience" of the album in tact, but at the same time gave it the "brightness, loudness and punchiness" that every good record needs... Yes, How's that for being general? i'll spare you more details or more info, but that's the focus I had while recording this album and mixing it.

No "morphing" or "beautifully bright" pop-quality sounds here... cuz you'll simply be flippin through your cable viewing different programs and commercials on different channels, but this will be bump-able and good for your ears. What Cyrus said about who and what "influenced the making of this album" definitely shows throughout the songs. Even though most of y'all reading this won't even care about the mixing to a point, when you get into the music and vibe to and with it, we'll know the work put into every single small detail of the album from everyone involved has paid off. Hopefully this album whoops your ass.

MONTHS 'TILL MIDNIGHT PT.1

So here we are as promised, the revealing info of the DEBUT ALBUM from Film Skool Rejekts, Midnight Movie Produced entirely by yours truly. First off, I wanna give a huge shout to my man 100 Grand: Adrian "Adge 187" Morales, the sonic genius and mix engineer behind the "thump-mode" of this album. As of right now we are still in the final mixing process, with about one week left until it's done and wrapped up. Then off to the mastering process (Mr.Capone, I got some work for you). While going into the creation of the musical and conceptual thought process I wanted to do something that I've always wanted to do but never done before, and that is; Make an album in the same vein as one of my idols....

I always loved how Prince Paul put his album's together, most notably De La Soul's "De La Soul is dead". So from the beginning of crafting this project I wanted to have it flow like an ongoing story or a musical, if you will. My first task was to figure out what the album would be based around. I already knew that album titled was "Midnight Movie" and I wanted to make an album with ONE concept, which led me on my movie quest. I began my research and started watching movie upon movie and I stumbled upon...

AND THE REST WAS HISTORY. MY IDEA FOR THE CONCEPT OF THE ALBUM WAS BORN. IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN AFOREMENTIONED FILM OR KNOW THE PREMISE, THEN WATCH THE TRAILER BELOW, OR SIMPLY GO TO IMDB. IF I TRY TO EXPLAIN IT IN DETAIL, I WOULD BE HERE ALL DAY!

So with that in mind, I definitely knew where I was gonna go with everything. I told Sheen and Future, and we all came together to brainstorm on some concepts. This all took place in April of 2007. Fastfoward to August 2007, and the principle recording of the album is finished, with only the skits left to be recorded. As of now I feel like this guy...

Both of these albums had me going berzerk the first time I heard them. With the Prince Paul aesthetic in tact, plus the sonic inspiration of these two masterpieces, I conjured up... MIDNIGHT MOVIE. I personally hope the public likes the album as much as I LOVE IT, as I believe that this album is my MAGNUM OPUS.

So I been having a hard time coming up with some ideas to write for the rest of my screenplay... I'm getting irritated. With 118 pages done, I need some more fuel for the next 40. I'm feeling like Jack in the "The Shining" right about now. Hopefully I'll have this joint finished by the time I start Spring semester (January 14th, 2007)

So two things. I'm mad late with this and I'm mad shocked. Today (New years eve) I just found out that my favorite High School Ball Player passed away on August 17th, 2007. I just so happened to skim across this article no more than 2 hours ago. Peep the article below...

Eddie Griffin, Aug. 17: The five-year NBA veteran and former No. 7 draft pick had to be identified by his dental records after his SUV collided with a train. Griffin was only 25 years old.

After I read I decided to go to Wikipedia to find out some more info on this tragedy! Heres what I read...

Eddie Griffin died as a result of a car crash on August 17, 2007 at about 1:30 a.m.[7] Houston police said in a report that Griffin ignored a railroad warning and went through a barrier before striking a moving train. The resulting fire burned Griffin's SUV and the side of a railcar carrying plastic granules.[7] Griffin's body was badly burned and there was no initial identification. Dental records later revealed the man was Griffin. He had more than three times the legal alcohol limit in his system when he crashed, according to an autopsy report. The Harris County Medical Examiner's office said the 25-year-old Griffin died of "multiple blunt force injuries." The medical examiner's office performed tests on Griffin's bile and blood from his heart and liver and determined his blood-alcohol level was 0.26. As late as I am... I send my prayers to the family of Eddie Griffin.

It feels like it was only yesterday (Circa 2001) When I found myself emulating certain moves and post techniques that this brother used to use in the paint. Granted I was an undersized 5-11 High School Power Foward, and he was a good sized 6-9 Swing Man. I would copy everything he did on the court, especially that move where he would be in the post and fake like he was going to pass it to his left, but then he'd turn around and shoot the fade-away... PRICELESS. Even though the brother had a sub-par NBA career, I still respect his game and I wish he would have stayed out of trouble. The problem with alot of our young Black men is the lack of guidance, which is what I doubt this young brother had.

RIP EDDIE GRIFFIN.

So this my first time posting on my Blogg Spizzle. I wanna give a fat shout out to all my people: Kev P, Sheen Philips, The Weirdos, Future Joyner. This Year IS OURS!!! It's gon be GREAT IN 2008. To all my supporters y'all get love to. I got alot of exclusives for yall very shortly. As you know, I'm 1/3rd of FSR, otherwise known as FIlm Skool Rejekts. The other 2 members are Sheen Philips and Future Joyner. Think of it as De La Soul on steroids. 2 MC's (Sheen and Future) and One Producer (ME!!! BABY!! ME!) We recently just dropped the WorkPrint Mixtape (Which I will post later on tonight) and The response has been GREAT. With that being said I'm going to get off this and start working more on my screenplay. I am 118 pages deep into this EPIC. The usual length for a screen play is about 120 pages, but I just cant stop writing. I prediect this script will be around 150-160 pages long. I would disclose the actual content of the Screenplay, but it's too early to let the cat out the bag. I will just say two things; It's an Kung-Fu Epic and it's a cross between Kill Bill, Blade Runner, The Warriors and Shaolin and The Wu-Tang. Stay Tuned Yall

The Black Terminator

The main selling point of the station is it's exclusive rights to world premier of the highly anticipated 80's sci-fi/ blaxploitation movie, The Black Terminator, directed by Alan Smithee. While this movie is 25-years old, it has never been seen in it's entirty due to Old World Film's (the film's designated Distributor) filing for bankruptcy in 1983. With no other companies willing to take a chance on such an amalgam of a film (The film consisted of ideaological undertones of The Honorable Elijah Muhammed, The Holy Bible, H.P. Lovecraft, Manfred Clynes and Louis-Sébastien Mercier ) The rough cut of the film sat on the shelve and found it's way in the black market, where it would be sold across the nation, generally by way of bootleg VHS tapes throughout major urban cities. Even with the pirated material available to the general public, Alan Smithee's Magnum Opus has never been seen in the way it was intended to be seen. The FSR network is about change that. Thanks to a lucrative partnership with Alan Smithee, this thriving network has a 2-Year contract of exclusivity that allows the FSR network and only the FSR network to run The Black Terminator.

The FSR Network is an African American Television channel on the rise. Starting in 2007, this channel specializes in the programming of Retro 70's 80's and 90's Urban films. The Stations big hit is their show "Midnight Movie" hosted by TV newcomer Byg Sev (nee' Rueben Breeden.) The show currently airs every Friday at Midnight. The program consists of low-budget films, bookended by in-studio or on-location comedy skits featuring the show's hosts. In addition to skits, the host will also provide sardonic comments about the featured film(s), and observations on various Hollywood- and/or New York City-area clubs and attractions (when the series was shooting out of studio).

The movies aired range from cult classics, to B-movies, to other fare not appearing on television frequently. Midnight Movie regularly shows sexploitation films, with the explicit content (virtually) always edited out.
